Documents required in the admission process

  1. Application for admission to studies (hand-signed) printed from the IRK system.
  2. Document entitling to further education in Poland:
    • UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES: a copy of the legalized/apostilled high school diploma (with exam results/grade list) containing a clause stating the right to apply for higher education in the country of issue, or another document recognized as equivalent to the Polish maturity certificate. The document must be translated by a sworn translator or consul. The original must be presented for inspection.
    • POSTGRADUATE STUDIES: a copy of the legalized/apostilled diploma (with supplement/grade list) or another document certifying completion of higher education abroad, recognized as equivalent to the appropriate Polish first-cycle degree diploma. The document must be translated by a sworn translator or consul. The original must be presented for inspection. 

In the case of applying for second-cycle studies, please upload documents confirming the completion of secondary school (diploma, transcript of grades and, if possible, a translation to English or Polish language) to the IRK system.

    • DOCTORAL STUDIES: a copy of the legalized/apostilled diploma or another document certifying completion of higher education abroad (with supplement/grade list), recognized as equivalent to the Polish master's degree diploma. The document must be translated by a sworn translator or consul. The original must be presented for inspection.
    • POSTGRADUATE STUDIES: a copy of the legalized/apostilled diploma (with supplement/grade list) or another document certifying completion of higher education abroad, recognized as equivalent to the appropriate Polish first-cycle degree diploma. The document must be translated by a sworn translator or consul. The original must be presented for inspection.
  1. Certificate of proficiency in the Polish language (applies to individuals wishing to study in Polish). Individuals wishing to study in Polish at UWM in Olsztyn must present one of the following documents proving their language proficiency:
    • a certificate of completion of a one-year preparatory course for studying in Polish at units designated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
    • a certificate confirming passing the state certificate examination in Polish as a foreign language at level B1 or higher (B2, C1) issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language (www.certyfikatpolski.pl),
    • a high school diploma with Polish as the language of instruction or a diploma of completion of studies in Polish.
    • In the absence of one of the above-mentioned documents, the candidate must take a qualifying test in Polish as a foreign language conducted by the Center for Polish Culture and Language for Foreigners at UWM in Olsztyn (B2 level test, consisting of 5 parts: listening comprehension, reading, grammar knowledge, writing, speaking).
  2. Certificate of proficiency in the English language in accordance with the applicable announcement of the Prime Minister's Office of January 13, 2021, regarding the procedure for conducting qualification proceedings in the civil service (applies to individuals wishing to study in English).
  3. Copy of the passport (photo page). The original document for inspection.
  4. Application form printed from the IRK system.
  5. Copy of the visa/residence permit (to be provided after admission to studies).
  6. Copy of a valid health insurance policy for a minimum of one year or a signed agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ) or an EHIC card (to be provided after admission to studies).

Service agent responsible for receiving the letters

A party without a domicile or habitual residence in Poland, any other EU member state, the Swiss Confederation, or EFTA-EEA agreement countries, and without representation or consular involvement in Poland, must designate a service agent in Poland for mail reception. Otherwise, all documents will be delivered exclusively by electronic means.
